So you want to give your dog vitamins?

Before i start explaining why i give my doggies vitamins.. Let me say i did forget to mention that one of my dogs became allergic to something the homemade dog food and i really didn't feel like going through which ingredient it was so i switched them to pedigree then to Rachel Ray Nutrish. I did recently order V-Dog which is an all Vegan dog food company. I will do a blog about that after a few weeks of them eating.

                         Now on to today's blog

Over a year ago i started thinking about giving my dogs vitamins. I'll be honest i didn't even know if dog vitamins existed. I talked to my friend and he researched companies for me and then he told me which ones i should look into. Now i know you are probably wondering how i ended up even thinking about giving my dogs vitamins.

When i was feeding my dogs a homemade plant based diet i wanted to make sure that they were getting all the vitamins, nutrients, and protein. That's when i asked my friend about dog vitamins.  At this point i wanted to make sure what i would end up giving them would be the best. To me there is no price on the health of your dog.

After my friend gave me some companies to look at I went with the original one he told me about and that was NaturVet.. When my dogs were puppies i use to give them salmon oil by the same company.. Now i know this brand is really good and i feel confident in purchasing from them. Now came the fun part what vitamins should i give them?

This took me about a week or so and i ended up with a multivitamin, skin and coat, and later i started getting salmon oil again. The multivitamin helps aids in joint support ( and if you have a pitbull you know arthritis could be a problem), skin and coat support, digestive enzymes, vitamins and minerals, and finally it's all natural.

Skin and Coat helps aids in.. Helps in proper skin moisture, Respiratory Health, and helps support the immune system, and its all natural

Salmon Oil helps aids in a glossy coat. And it's all natural.

All natural comes with an all natural price. I purchase my dog vitamins off of amazon and for the multivitamin i pay $18, Skin and Coat $17 and Salmon Oil 17 oz size $18.. And so each month i pay roughly $53 a month in dog vitamins. Like i said i don't mind paying that because i know my dogs are getting the extra nutrients and vitamins that they aren't getting from their dog food..

I've been giving my dogs these vitamins and Oil now for about a year and let me tell you something.. The overall health of the dogs are great.. okay.. maybe with an exception of a few extra pounds.. Seriously though their coats haven't been shinier, their poop have been normal.. And what i mean by normal my mix breed has always had what i called rabbit poop.. After giving him vitamins his poops are normal.

Now i'll be honest.. I really do love NaturVet and the products they offer.. Recently (this week) i have been looking into a more Holistic vitamins for my dogs. I do love NatrVet and the products they offer and i don't see myself switching the dogs vitamins anytime soon.. But for me i always like to see what's out there..

One thing i did forget to mention.. The Multivitamin and the Skin & Coat vitamin comes in a powder or chews.. Currently i give my dogs the powder even though they love the chews. And it also depends if you get the chews or powder because chews can be a bit more expensive..

Do research on the brands of dog vitamins and once you choose a brand continue to research. I found that amazon is cheaper when it comes to NaturVet my local pet store wanted at least $8-$10 more for the vitamins and oil..

I would also ask your vet if you are still uncertain about giving your dogs vitamins. I didn't ask my vet because i'll be 100% Honest the vet would most likely tell me that vitamins are necessary because dog get all the nutrients from the food they eat. Have you looked at the ingredients in your dog food? If you did 1) you would get the vitamins and 2) you would switch the food completely.

From my personal experience my dogs seem to be doing really well on the vitamins and i'm glad that as i researched health stuff for myself it made me research more about dog related vitamins and food..

I hope you enjoyed today's blog and until next time

Peace, Love and Lots of Love
